Betty I wanted to thank you for sending the four pairs of binoculars to Tropical Nature for use in the kids education program of our Peruvian partner organization, Peru Verde. The binoculars went down to Peru the day after they arrived in my office in DC, and they have already been put to use in Peru! Below is the description from Gabriella Scollo, the director of the Environmental Education Program at Peru Verde: Peter English, PhD. The binoculars provided the kids with the opportunity to observe and learn about birds of the city of Lima. For most of them it was the first opportunity to study birds so closely. Using binoculars and field identification guides, children learned about bird adaptations, food, behavior and nesting materials. Older students observed a particular bird for a period of ten minutes and wrote down what they learned. Then, they shared their information with the whole group.
