Dear Birders' Exchange
Thank you for the donation of ten pairs of binoculars and one bird topography booklet. I took these to Nicaragua for a day-long migratory bird education workshop I provided to 20 Nicaraguan teachers representing six schools: Un Ave - Dos Habitats. The binoculars served as a symbol of continuing interest in North America and potential future support for Nicaraguan efforts in bird conservation education, thus even the expectation of your gift provided fuel for recruiting teachers for the workshop. Many teachers in Nicaragua have no books or other school supplies with which to work, so the availability of equipment such as binoculars is likely to encourage them to teach about bird conservation.
Thank you very much for your contribution to bird conservation education in Nicaragua. Together, I think we've opened a door for people that I hope will open wider and wider, and stay open for many years to come. I hope we can do another bird education workshop in Nicaragua in the future, to reach more people with an interest in bird conservation.
Sincerely,
Susan Gilchrist
